Holiday Shopping Safety

Debit card fraud continues to be active, and you can be certain that the criminals will take advantage of the holidays. Your debit card will most likely be used much more frequently during the next month. First Florida Integrity Bank takes your account safety seriously. We will be monitoring your purchases closely with FFIBAlerts system. We know that it can be an inconvenience to be “blocked” while at a register making your holiday purchase.

Here are some tips:

1. Enroll in FFIBAlerts. Text messaging system that notifies you of all your transactions. Gives you immediate access to block your card when there is fraud and unblock it if it isn’t fraud.

2. Don’t ignore your text messages. Respond to them as you are shopping. This will keep your card from blocking the next time you go to the register.

3. If your card is blocked you can use the mobile application. You can instantly block and unblock your cards within the application under “Manage Cards”. If you don’t see this feature contact your personal banker to assist you in getting this set up.

4. We now have 24 hour customer service to assist with fraud alerts. The fraud center can unblock your card if your card has been blocked due to possible fraud. The number to the fraud center is on the back of your card.

5. Always insert your card into the terminal's chip reader if available. Doing this ensures the highest degree of protection when conducting a transaction.

6. Find out what your daily point of sale limit is before you go shopping. With FFIBAlerts your daily limit is $2,500. Purchases over this will not be approved and could contribute to your card being blocked. If you know you are going to make a special purchase that is larger than your limit contact your personal banker prior to shopping. They may be able to accommodate you for that purchase.
